They've been wanting it to go away. The main problem is it won't, there's still a lot of legacy stuff out there that hasn't been updated to work in anything but.

They want XP to go away as well, even announcing it was EOL, yet I still get updates for it.

You'll continue to get updates til XP is fully dropped.

Windows XP w/SP2 ending on July 11th, 2010
Windows XP w/SP3 is set to end April 2014

So expect to get updates up til that point.

I knew there wouldn't be another SP rollout, but I fully didn't expect them to keep pushing out security updates. I figured it would be like Office 2000, announce EOL, then bam you can't even find the SP's for it anymore. You can find the web installers for them, but the pages they point to are long gone.

If XP ever does get another service pack it will probably land up being like SP3 was. Just all the updates up to that point, minus the small additional features they added in SP3. SP4 would probably just be hotfixes if anything.

Everybody wants Ie6 to go away, srously.

It doesn't even support CSS3, it makes my job as web designer harder.

This site is rather funny to read through. Even more so the petition buzz quotes. Kinda makes the site more of a joke then anything. I loved the box warning that says:

Quote:

You have been mislead by a vocal minority and are using firefox, which is clearly an inferior web browser to IE6. Please switch to IE6 and sign our petition.

Clearly I cannot make rational decisions on my own and this website is informing me of this. I should totally switch back to IE6 because they know whats best for me. (Yea.. right..)

I still have ie6 on my computer but then automatic updates installed ie8 on it Sad. But i have reverted it back to normal Very Happy.
All is great but the fact that it does not have any tabs, it makes web browsing harder.

If I had the to chose between IE6 or IE8, I'd take 8 at least it has some security.
