Can you build up a great gaming desktop from that pricelist? Just convert the peso to usd [PHP to USD] for total price.
I don't know much about motherboards and I don't know if those gfx cards are up to gaming standards. .___.

it'd be better if you just said how many pesos you'd be willing to spend.
also, how about external stuff like software, speakers or display?
the pricelist doesn't seem to offer the gtx 280 or 295 which is something I'd pick, anyhow, the 260 is decent enough for most games
anyhow, I'd go with:
Code: |
i7 920 :14500 (good cpu)
INTEL CORE i7 BLKDX58SO LGA1366 :11000 (mainboard that supports the used cpu)
G DVDRW DUAL LAYER 22X IDE ( GH22NP20 ) : 1150 (cheapest dvd drive, there is, no one needs those anymore)
SENTINEL ATX case: 1350 (something to put it in)
3*KINGSTON 2GB DDR3 PC10600 : 3*2700=8100 (at least 6GB for games these days, and DDR3 because that's what the mainboard uses, and 3 sticks for triple channel usage)
SEAGATE 1 TB 7200 SATA : 4200 (1TB is enough to load every game you have on the harddisk and still have lots to spare)
PALIT GTX 260 896DDR3 448BIT : 8000 (just one is enough, although sli might give a small speed boost)
PSU: GIGABYTE SUPERB 720W : 4500 (Good enough and even leaves some to spare for future upgrades like sli)
|
so total: 52800 PHP so $1175.73 (869.01 EUR) (Holy shit, those prices are cheap or I did a calculation error)

Well, the maximum I'm willing to spend is 2000$ and no more.
Also, I seem to be unfamiliar with "Palit" is it any good or is it just nvidia in a different name? I thought it was a local brand because "palit" is a common filipino word.
Also, I know we need a PSU but what is it used for?
Also, is it worth my time to find some Nvidia / ATI? is it better? and is it actually cheap? We have a 12% tax here, not sure if it's already included in the price list but assuming it is.

palit is just the manufacturer, usually the only difference between different manufacturers is the picture that's slapped on the sides of the card and the software bundle (some offer different games)
the PSU is used to power your system. If the power is too low, the system won't boot or spontaneously reboot, if it's too high you're wasting money (don't worry, the components won't fry if you take a too high one)
It might be worth looking for a different graphics card as the gtx-260 is more than a year old, but personally I think it'll still do great for games these days

Eh, already have a 260m on my laptop. Sure it's mobile but I think it still packs quite a punch. I suppose I'll try to find one.
Thanks alot for the info and suggestion.

the 260 desktop card performs much better than the mobile version, so if you're okay with the mobile card, you will certainly be good with the desktop version.

Wow sucks to be shopping at whatever that place is, tried my best.
I would rather stay with your laptop with 260m and see who can get you the better parts.

Eh closest place to my house. There isn't really a variety of parts that are readily available in here. .___. I can't really get stuff shipped.
