Is it just me or are games getting expensive? I mean its £50 (I think thats $82?) for one game. The recession is hitting hard here.

I agree that it is expensive.
But, if you think about how much time and dedication it took the people who made it.. I think it's cheap .. Some games takes years, and yet it only costs £50 .. So somehow, it's actually fair enough that games are expensive.. But games with monthly fees, should not be expensive... That's just my opinion (:

Here in Norway, prices have been around $80-100 for a long time, anything below that is considered cheap.

How is this gameplay design?
But ontopic, I don't think it's merely the recession's doing.
It probably raised it a BIT but nothing extravagant.
Warez, on the other hand, did have a great hand in this play.

oft: Product marketing still fits under game design.
ont: The same with music and movies. Need to have more encryption.

here in brazil only 27% of gamers buy their games. piracy is very common here. example: a original game can be bought 200~250 R$. this is like 100~125 dollars. a copy (that can even be bought b4 the game is released here) is sold for about 5~10 R$ = 2.5~5 dollars. this happens bcuz the government tax imported electronics at a very high rate. thats why Brazilians play alot of f2p online games. till now i havent spent even a cent with games and i have the greatest (or at least i think) offline games, such as Fallout3, PoP, DMC4, Diablo 3 (lol kiddin^^) so on...
I think games should be sold at something between 20~60 USD. its a fair price.
