|

Hey All,
My maths algorithm to find the vector components that offset 3D/2D points (On a Cube/square) with rotation doesn't seem to work ]:
Can someone please point out where I'm going wrong?
Picture here.
Theta 1 (In red, bottom right) is the Zi rotation of the object. I've only shown one quadrant because the diagram before just looked over-complicated.
What happens when I punch in my formulas.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
-Montycarlo

I'm not quite sure what you want to achieve. I've uploaded an example of what I'm guessing what your desired result is. It seems like you are drawing lines to make the square, so the program uses lines for making the square as well. It's done in c#, but what I've done can be used with flash. If this is what you want, I'll post an explanation on how I did it or you can use reflector.

I used a different method and it worked haha

Edit: Just punched it in and it doesn't work. The same problem occurs, both equations actually return the same value. The maths is right, I checked with my teachers, it's something I'm doing wrong with the position operators...
2nd edit: There was nothing wrong with any of my equations I forgot to take into account flash's degrees range. How silly.

nothing wrong with the equations? are you sure?
they look wrong for me, let me get my tablet and redo the graphics
if I got it right it should be like this

| Answer me this, why do both of mine return the same results and work then?

no idea but >.> I just see a bunch of unnecessary equations mine is a little more simple isn't it? having a simple code is better for debugging.
anyways if it works and you are satisfied with yours ... use yours since you already finished it
there is a possibility that maybe I'm misunderstanding your graphics because of the lack of order xP

The second was is even simpler than yours haha. Thank-you anyway
