|
|
Laptop was fine last night and my sister took it and started using it and shut down normally when she finished. Booted my laptop and now it freeze before the winlogo comes. It wont let me boot the xp pro disc either. What the hell happened? I asked her wtf she was doing on it and only claims to have been using neopets on firefox.
I got it to boot the cd once and it says checking system and then just sat at a black screen

I'd beat the shit out of her and hack her neopet account.
At above: Better idea, just combine mine and yours

Try booting it in safe mode then running a virus scanner.
Neopets is full of malicious files, you know.

Whatever people are behind Neopets are super shady.
Although I doubt malware from advertisements could do that to a computer so well.

that includes off of any disc? if that's the case, then it could be a hardware problem, i doubt she would've went into the BIOS (or even be able to change anything with the limited options).

I also noticed the cd drive was so loose it fell out but i fixed that and the problem remains.
Nothing seems damaged cuz i took it apart. I know the cd woprks cuz the desktop reads it fine. I dont mind even erasing it and reformating because the only thing i could need on it was my music which i got on this pc now using idump.
just dont wanna buy anew laptop for my mom. Today im buying my new one and this is hers.
it all works till it comes to show the winxp screen.
Thinking about it i have edited boot logo screens. But i dont think that would hurt it because this one has it and is fine.

Send it to microsoft, they'll upgrade it from vista to xp so your computer will work. I'm being serious.

It's not an "upgrade" anymore for good computers, and it's not cute anymore.
Besides, some OEMs don't even have good driver support (if any) for the hardware on the newer computers for XP.
EDIT:
Irrelevant anyway, if it's XP to begin with.

Bring it to geek squad and they'll check it, but don't pay them, it's not worth it, they charge liek hundreds of dollars.
one kid had cp on his comp, and it broke, his mom took it to geek squad , they found the cp, and charged her 500$ to keep quiet.

Simple solution is not to have CP, and to not use services that will overcharge/buttrape you. Whatever Geek squad they went to probably does scans solely for that, just to blackmail people into paying more. Which is, needless to say, against the law. I'd sue.
Back on topic, you probably don't need to take it to anybody, have you tried at all yet to boot from CD/USB?
