I was just wondering, what kinds of programs would you use the speed up option for?

You can use the speed up option for games that are just too slow.
e.g: Takes 35 minutes to walk from one spot to another spot while there are no enemies in between

And of course for the much requested purpose of "Online cheating". (Some games allow you to go faster than other players.)

btw...why doesn't it speed up the audio?
And yeah i confirm there are online things where you can even walk faster with the speed hack...but it's also great for speeding up offline things that take too long...well for example you regenerate energy when standing still but it takes a lot of time...just speed it up Razz But from what i've seen you can only speed it up as much as your CPU can handle...if you set 100x speed it will only run as fast as possible. That's great as I thought it wouldn't work properly anymore once you set a speed that's too high for the CPU...

It sometimes does, but other times it doesnt. It depends on the game/program you're trying it on. (3d pinball in windows has a background music thats a lot faster when speeded up)

The speedhack works by replacing frequently used timing calls made by games with it's own routines. It could be the sound is handled by a routine thats not replaced by CE

But some games already run at their optimum, and im really only interested in speeding up certain things, like how fast one value changes, such as time, not the whole game itself.
Do you have a solution?

Then the only option you have is finding out what writes to those values, and then backtrace it to where the function is called.
Somewhere near there should be a call to a timer routine and you'll have to replace it with some of your own code.

Too bad this can't be done automatically. Unless the item you want to accelerate uses a completly different timer function than the rest of the game uses(Very unlikely..., when a programmer chooses a timer for their game they usually stick with it), then I can propably add in a option that lets you specify wich timers get a speed boost.

Also, even when a game is already running at it's optimum using the speedhack will still increase the speed of the time and other items.
(And the speedhack doesn't always work)

go here http://www.cheatengine.tk/ also.. the Speedhack should have a hot-key option, there is another seperate speedhack program SpeedhackNT which uses the + and - as the hot keys, + speeds it up a notch and - slows it back down.
